Q Journal Suggestions You are to keep a journal throughout Units 1-6 of this course. Journal entries should document observations of interpersonal communication interactions throughout each unit. You will post a minimum of two journal entries per unit. Each entry should provide an analysis of your communication. Entries should identify a relationship to a course concept or term and finally summarize how the interaction could be improved. This is the last unit for mandatory journal entries. I hope that you found it to be a useful tool, not only for the assistance in developing the Interpersonal Communication Report, but for your own personal growth. There is significant value in journaling as it provides an opportunity to reflect on our daily interactions. It is my hope that some of you will continue to put your thoughts down on paper and that it in turn will be a practice that offers you great satisfaction. You should clearly label each entry and post them in one word document or use the text entry feature in Canvas. If you submit two different posts, it may appear that your first post disappeared but your instructor will be able to see each submission. Each entry should be approximately 150-200 words. This Unit's Journal Entries This unit consider the following: • How would you describe your work relationships? Do you socialize outside of the work center? Does the professional line ever get hazy when it comes to friendship and work? • Reflect on how Internet use has affected your relationships. Does the Internet increase and improve the communication you have with your family, or has it decreased and harmed that communication? Why? • Consider an interpersonal relationship that is important to you. What stage of that relationship are you currently in? What can you do to move the relationship to a more desirable stage? • What recent conflicts have you faced with your family or friends, and how were those conflicts dealt with? Were the conflicts resolved? Did you use or see any of the theories suggested by DeVito? • When have you experienced or observed an inequitable relationship? Explain what happened, and whether/how it was resolved.
